European clubs continue to strengthen their playing squad in the 2022 summer transfer market. Five of them have even penetrated a total spending of 100 million euros. Uniquely, there is Leeds United as one of the most spending teams in the 2022 summer transfer market.
Reporting from Transfermarkt, Leeds United has poured 105.64 million euros to bring in six new players. Brenden Aaronson became the most expensive recruit for the Whites, nicknamed Leeds, with a dowry of 32.84 million euros from RB Salzburg.
The attacking midfielder from the United States is also the most expensive signing in Leeds history, beating Rodrigo’s transfer from Valencia in the summer of 2020 (30 million euros). The Whites’ five other new signings are Luis Sinisterra (25 million euros), Tyler Adams (17 million euros), Rasmus Kristensen (13 million euros), Marc Roca (12 million euros) and Darko Gyabi (5.8 million euros).
The Whites are not wallowing in wealth or supported by wealthy owners like the six giant teams in England. However, they can spend big after selling two of their flagship players, Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.
Raphinha was sold to Barcelona for a high fee of 58 million euros, while Kalvin Phillips headed to Manchester City for 48.75 million euros. If calculated, the West Yorkshire stronghold still has a surplus of 1.11 million euros from transfer activity for the 2022 season so far.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich became the club that spent the largest amount of money to buy players in the 2022 season transfer market. In total, Die Roten had spent 117.5 million euros. Matthijs de Ligt, who signed from Juventus, became Bayern Munich’s most expensive signing this summer (67 million euros).
The Bundesliga champions have also brought in Sadio Mane (32 million euros) from Liverpool and Ryan Gravenberch (18.5 million euros) from Ajax Amsterdam. Under Bayern Munich, there is Manchester City, followed by Leeds United, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur.
The list of the most spending teams may change considering that the summer 2022 transfer window will only close on September 1, 2022.
