Not Mourinho or Allegri, This is The Candidate for Zidane’s Replacement

The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, seems to have been preparing to fire coach Zinedine Zidane. That was due to the recent poor performance of Real Madrid.

The latest, the club nicknamed Los Blancos was forced to give up 0-3 from Paris Saint-Germain on the inaugural matchday of the 2019-2020 Champions League. Meanwhile, in the 2019-2020 Spanish League, Real Madrid’s appearance was also not optimal.

Zinedine Zidane’s troops “only” ranked third with eight points from four matches. As the team that spends the most money in the 2019 summer transfer window, this series of results is certainly not what Real Madrid wants.

Inevitably, after losing 0-3 to PSG, rumors of Zidane’s dismissal surfaced. Reported by the Daily Mirror, the names of Jose Mourinho and Massimiliano Allegri were also rumored to replace the Frenchman’s position at Real Madrid.

In fact, many Los Blancos fans have asked Madrid’s management to immediately re-appoint Jose Mourinho. As is known, Mourinho is the Real Madrid coach of the 2010-2013 era. However, lately other names have emerged which are more likely to replace Zidane as Real Madrid’s main coach.

It is Real Madrid player from 2009-2014, Xabi Alonso, who is considered suitable to fill the seat. Reported by the Daily Express from Mundo Deportivo, Florentino Perez prefers to appoint Xabi Alonso than Mourinho or Allegri.

Xabi Alonso now still serves as coach of Real Sociedad B. Previously, Xabi also briefly handled the Real Madrid academy team in 2018-2019.

However, Real Madrid must think twice if they want to fire Zidane, who returned to the lap of the giant club towards the end of last season. Because, if they really did an early dismissal, Real Madrid would have to spend very large sum of money due to compensation costs are already in the contract that Zidane signed in March 2019.

When deciding to return to Real Madrid’s training, Zidane signed a contract with a duration of three and a half seasons. That means, he is willing to head the team until 2022. In the agreement, Zidane gets a net salary of 13 million euros per year. Thus, Madrid must prepare a fund of 39 million euros if Zidane completes the contract.

In addition to having to spend compensation funds that are very large, Real Madrid also has to prepare costs to bring in a coach.
