Didier Drogba
Unlike Xavi, Didier Drogba confirmed he would end his career as a player in March with the United States club Phoenix Rising. Drogba admitted that he was late in starting his career as a top level footballer. But the former Chelsea legend enjoyed his life’s journey.
The Ivorian player never gave a trophy to his country. But while playing for the club, Drogba helped Chelsea win four English Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, 1 Champions League. Including three trophies with Galatasaray.
“I like my role as a player-owner. I am surrounded by a lot of young people, and I like to convey my knowledge to them. But this season is the last. I’m 40, now it’s time [retirement].” said Drogba.
Robin van Persie
Until now, Van Persie was the last player to announce himself to retire from football. This was revealed on October 25, 2018. The former Manchester United player will close his career beautifully. Because Van Persie hung his shoes with his idol club, where the 35-year-old started his career, Feyenoord Rotterdam.
After performing with Feyenoord, the player who was familiarly called RVP moved to Arsenal. At the North London club RVP won only two trophies: Community Shield and FA Cup. Then join Man United to win the English Premier League and Community Shield.
“When should I stop? It’s possible at the end of the season. I will be 36 years old and will be 18 years as a professional. Since I was 5 years old I was only involved in football,” Van Persie said.
