Mikel Arteta is in the spotlight following Arsenal’s poor results in the Premier League this season and exiting the Premier League Cup.
Arsenal have waded seven Premier League matches without winning, five defeats and two draws. The Gunners’ performance decreased after losing 1-4 to Manchester City in the League Cup at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday (23/12).
Arteta is the figure most responsible for the negative record of the Gunners. His position as manager continues to be speculated.
4 Trainer Candidates to replace Arteta:
1. Mauricio Pochettino
This Argentine coach started his career as coach of Espanyol in the 2008/2009 season. Five seasons at the Catalan club, Pochettino was signed by Southampton in 2012/2013.
His career took off when Tottenham Hotspurs appointed him as coach in 2013/2014. Although he never led The Lilywhites to win, Pochettino managed to turn Tottenham into a respected team in the Premier League.
His best achievement was when he successfully brought Tottenham to the 2018/2019 Champions League runner-up. Pochettino is currently unemployed.
2. Massimiliano Allegri
Max Allegri has experience handling many clubs in the Italian League. Among them are Sassuolo, Cagliari, AC Milan and Juventus.
The man who is now without a club has had a lot of success in the domestic sphere. Five times he won the Scudetto with Juventus, and once while coaching AC Milan.
With Juventus he also won the Coppa Italia four times. Three times the Italian Super Champion, twice with Juventus and once with AC Milan.
On the European scene, Allegri and Juventus were runners-up twice, namely the 2014/2015 and 2016/2017 seasons.
3. Thomas Tuchel
Just like Allegri, Thomas Tuchel is also full of experience coaching a number of clubs in the German League. Before training PSG, whose contract will end next year, Tuchel has coached Borussia Dortmund, FC Ausburg, to FSV Mainz 05.
Tuchel won the Bundesliga once with Dortmund in the 2016/2017 season. While with PSG, he won the French League twice in succession in 2018/2019 and 2019/2020. PSG also won the 2019/2020 French Cup with Tuchel.
In the Champions League, Tuchel almost presented the title in 2019/2020. Unfortunately they lost to Bayern Munich in the final and had to settle for being runners up.
4. Patrick Vieira
The French coach is not a foreign name for Arsenal. Vieira worked at Highbury (Arsenal’s old home) from 1996 to 2005.
After retiring he started a career as a coach at Manchester City. Having handled Man City U-21, he was then entrusted with managing the senior team from 2013/2014 to 2015/2016.
Vieria then moved to MLS in 2015/2016 by training New York City FC. Three years after that he returned to Europe and coached OGC Nice.
Vieira has not made any achievements during her career as a coach. But his experience of nine seasons playing at Highbury could be a plus for Arsenal.
