5 Candidates to Replace Ederson at Manchester City, There is Donnarumma

Manchester City has the potential to lose Ederson. Therefore, The Citizens need to prepare a replacement if the Brazilian goalkeeper really leaves the club.

Ederson is reportedly willing to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer. He is open to trying competitions in the Middle East.

Al Ittihad reportedly really wants to bring in Ederson. They are currently holding negotiations with Manchester City to secure his services.

Ederson has played more than 300 matches for Manchester City. He played an important role in helping the club win many titles on the domestic stage and even win the Champions League.

Ederson’s departure will clearly be a big loss for Manchester City. If Ederson moves, The Citizens will certainly need to find a replacement.

Here are five goalkeepers who could replace Ederson at Manchester City.

  1. Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG)

Gianluigi Donnarumma has been linked with Manchester City recently. The PSG goalkeeper is reportedly Manchester City’s target to replace Ederson.

Donnarumma is now considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He would be a phenomenal replacement if Ederson leaves Manchester City this summer.

Currently Donnarumma plays for PSG after defending AC Milan. He is the captain of the Italian national team and managed to help his country win Euro 2020.

  1. Diogo Costa (Porto)

Diogo Costa is Portugal’s main goalkeeper at Euro 2024. This 24 year old goalkeeper performed heroically by saving three penalties against Slovenia.

Costa now plays in the Portuguese league with giants Porto. He has played 154 games with the club and has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs.

Costa is currently under contract with Porto until 2027. This Porto academy player has a market value of 45 million euros.

  1. Mike Maignan (AC Milan)

Mike Maignan’s ability as a goalkeeper is no longer in doubt. He is currently the main goalkeeper for Italian giants AC Milan.

Maignan has played for Milan since the year after being brought in from Lille. He has played 110 matches in all competitions with the Rossoneri.

This 29 year old goalkeeper is also defending the French national team at Euro 2024. The former PSG player already has 22 caps for his country.

4.Andriy Lunin (Real Madrid)

Andriy Lunin has always been under the shadow of Thibaut Courtois at Real Madrid. Because of this, Lunin reportedly wants to leave Los Blancos this summer.

Lunin has played for Real Madrid since 2018 after being brought in from Zorya Luhansk. He was loaned to several Spanish clubs such as Leganes, Valladolid and Oviedo.

Last season, Lunin was Real Madrid’s main goalkeeper after Thibaut Courtois and Kepa Arrizabalaga were injured. He has played 48 matches for Los Blancos.

  1. Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia)

Giorgi Mamardashvili is the main goalkeeper for the Spanish LaLiga club, Valencia. He has played for the club since 2021.

So far, Mamardashvili has played 100 matches in all competitions with Valencia. He showed good performance in Spain so that he was reportedly interested in a number of big European clubs.

Mamardashvili also impressed with Georgia at Euro 2024 yesterday. The former Dinamo Tbilisi player succeeded in helping his country make history by qualifying for the round of 16.
