5 Players Who Have Been Trained by Jurgen Klopp and Josep Guardiola

Jurgen Klopp and Josep Guardiola are considered the best coaches in the world at the moment. The Liverpool and Manchester City tactician has given success to the teams he manages.

Klopp has built success with Liverpool. He succeeded in winning the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup and FA Cup.

However, Klopp’s time together with Liverpool will end at the end of this season. He has decided to leave Anfield in the summer of 2024.

Meanwhile, Guardiola has achieved a lot of success with Manchester City. He succeeded in bringing The Citizens to a historic treble winner last season.

So far there have been several top players who have been handled by Klopp and Guardiola. They won a number of championship titles while being coached by these two great coaches.

The following are the five top players who have been coached by Jurgen Klopp and Josep Guardiola.

Gotze played under Klopp from 2009 to 2013. He helped Die Borussen win two Bundesliga titles.

After moving to Bayern Munich, Gotze met Josep Guardiola. During three seasons in the Die Roten uniform, Gotze won seven titles.

  1. Xherdan Shaqiri

Xherdan Shaqiri defended Liverpool for three seasons. He was only a backup player while under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp.

Even though he was not the main choice, Shaqiri also experienced success. He won the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup.

The Swiss player was coached by Josep Guardiola for two seasons at Bayern Munich from 2013 to 2015. He won three Bundesliga titles and one Champions League there.

  1. Thiago Alcantara

Thiago Alcantara often works together with Josep Guardiola. The Spanish midfielder was handled by Guardiola when he played for Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

After defending Bayern for seven seasons, Thiago was brought by Jurgen Klopp to Liverpool. Unfortunately, he hasn’t played much for Klopp due to injury problems.

  1. Ilkay Gundogan

Ilkay Gundogan was handled by Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund. Under Klopp’s tutelage, Gundogan transformed into one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga.

Last season, Gundogan was one of the important players for The Citizens when they won the treble winners. He now plays in Spain with Barcelona.
