5 stars at risk of failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup, including Ronaldo

A number of football stars are in danger of failing to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after not finishing group winners in the qualifiers. Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the top players who could run aground for the 2022 World Cup.

The World Cup is the biggest football party that is often decorated with the appearance of some of the greatest players on earth.

The event was also an opportunity for the top players to compete for the prestigious World Cup trophy that became supremacy in the world.

However, before reaching the World Cup finals, all the players and their national teams took a winding road, one of which was through qualifying.

Not infrequently the stars failed to make it to the World Cup because the national team they defended was unable to achieve the expected results, both in the group standings and the playoffs.

Gareth Bale, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Arturo Vidal, David Alaba, Marco Verratti, to Gianluigi Buffon are a number of names who have missed the World Cup after their national team failed to pass qualification.

Quoted from Sportskeeda, other stars could suffer the same fate after playing the 2022 World Cup Qualification match until Tuesday (15/11) early morning WIB.

5 Stars Could Fail For The 2022 World Cup:

1. Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal’s defeat to Serbia, 1-2 made Selecao Das Quinas have to go through the playoffs to be able to appear in the upcoming 2022 World Cup. If Portugal’s journey runs aground in the playoffs, CR7’s desire to appear in Qatar will also disappear.

In his career Ronaldo has played in four editions of the World Cup since 2006. From 17 matches, the 36-year-old striker has scored 7 goals.

2. Luis Suarez

Currently Uruguay is still knocked out of fifth place in the Conmebol zone standings. In the Conmebol zone, four teams qualify directly for the World Cup, and the fifth-placed team advances to the playoffs.

After losing 0-1 to Argentina, Uruguay is ranked sixth in the Conmebol zone. If Uruguay fails to penetrate the top five, Luis Suarez’s chance to appear in Qatar will be closed.

3. Robert Lewandowski

Poland can also jump into the playoffs first to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. Currently Poland is runner-up in Group I with 20 points, three points behind England.

Robert Lewandowski, who is currently shining with Bayern Munich, has a tough task in bringing Poland to the 2022 World Cup. Lewandowski’s success in Munich has not happened in Poland.

4. Bruno Fernandes

So far Bruno Fernandes is considered one of the spirits of Manchester United. Fernandes is the engine of the Red Devils game.

The former Sporting Lisbon player often creates important goals and assists for Man United. However, now the fate of Fernandes is like Cristiano Ronaldo, who still needs to fight with the Portugal national team in the playoffs in order to appear in the 2022 World Cup.

5. Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland’s situation is similar to that of Lewandowski. Haaland is a Borussia Dortmund star. The 21-year-old striker was fertile with Die Borussen.

Haaland’s stardom at Dortmund made the Leeds-born player in the spotlight when he was with the Norwegian national team. In the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, Norway is still in third place in Group G with the same point with Turkey, 18.
