Real Madrid in the near future is claimed to be sacking Santiago Solari from the coach seat. At least five candidates have emerged to take over Solari’s work in the middle of the competition.
Solari had promised at the beginning of his leadership as a replacement for Julen Lopetegui since last November. However, the position of the Argentine coach began to falter following a series of negative results in all competitions.
Apart from being knocked out of the Copa del Rey after being humiliated by rivals Barcelona, Real Madrid were also thrown out of the Champions League competition this season. It was Ajax Amsterdam which became a disaster for the Spanish giants.
A number of top coaches will likely reject the proposal in the middle of the 2018/19 season competition. However, there are at least five names of coaches who have the potential to receive jobs because they are ‘unemployed’.
1. Jose Mourinho
Mourinho became the strongest candidate to lift the performance of Los Blancos, which was on the decline. Moreover, the Portuguese strategist hasn’t had a club since being sacked by Manchester United at the end of 2018.
Mourinho openly admitted he was ready to handle the team he had trained. However, he will only choose a team that has big ambitions and capital to achieve achievements at both domestic and European levels.
Despite being used to building teams before the competition starts, Mourinho will potentially accept the challenge in the middle of the road if Real Madrid officially sack Solari.
2. Antonio Conte
Conte is also included in the list of ideal candidates. A series of domestic titles at Juventus and Chelsea made his prestige worthy of consideration.
Real Madrid club officials reportedly had communicated with Conte before officially hooking Julen Lopetegui before the competition began. As a result, Conte did not want to accept the offer as a substitute for Lopetegui who was fired midway.
Like other top coaches, Conte will indeed prioritize teams that are building strength before the competition starts. However, the impromptu situation at Real Madrid might change Conte’s mind.
3. Joachim Loew
Loew is still under contract with the German national team until the 2022 World Cup title. However, the temptation to train Real Madrid can be a big temptation for Loew who had intended to train the club after failing to bring Germany to excel at the 2018 World Cup.
Loew’s name was also linked with Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane decided to resign from his position at the end of the 2017/18 season. However, Los Blancos officials surprisingly chose Lopetegui.
The German coach could have accepted a new challenge from El Real if the proposal offered was more tempting than dealing with Die Mannschaft.
4. Raul Gonzalez
Raul is a realistic candidate to replace Solari at this time. However, his status is likely to only be a temporary coach until the 2018/19 competition ends.
However, Raul is likely to be permanent if he is able to lift Real Madrid’s performance until the end of the season. This has happened to the era of Zinedine Zidane who managed to present the Champions League title.
At present, Raul gets the job as coach of the Madrid B team replacing Alvaro Benito who was fired after criticizing Toni Kroos and Casemiro on a radio broadcast. His experience as a Los Galacticos star made him a respected star player at the Bernabeu.
5. Guti Hernandez
Guti also has the same chance as Raul at Real Madrid. Both are popular in the same era and are legendary and beloved public Bernabeu.
At present Guti is the assistant coach of Besiktas after previously ‘interning’ as an Madrid youth team coach. Nevertheless, Raul’s chances of replacing Solari were greater than Guti’s.
