The 5 worst Manchester United players in the history of the Premier League are interesting to discuss. Because a team as big as Man United still likes to buy the wrong players. Many of the players who were brought in did not shine at the club, instead being named the worst in the competition.
Manchester United or Man United is one of the biggest football clubs in the history of the English and European Leagues. The Red Devils are known for recruiting members in the transfer market that generate large dividends.
Even so, it turns out that Man United doesn’t always produce talented players. The following are the 5 worst Man United players in the history of the Premier League.
Here are the 5 worst Manchester United players in Premier League history:
1. Juan Sebastian Veron
The worst Man United player in Premier League history was first pinned on Juan Sebastian Veron. How could I not, after signing a contract with Man United in 2001 Veron still couldn’t adapt to English football.
The Argentine midfielder was paid 38.34 million pounds during his joining. He has also made 82 appearances and produced 11 goals and 11 assists.
After leaving Man United, Veron moved to Chelsea for two years. Unfortunately he still couldn’t play well. The 46-year-old couldn’t impress Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and eventually returned to Argentina and joined Estudiantes.
2. Alexis Sanchez
Initially Alexis Sanchez stole a lot of attention when he became the best striker at the Emirates Stadium. He managed to get 80 goals and 45 assists from a total of 166 Arsenal players.
But when Sanchez joined Manchester United he failed to shine. Sanchez who was brought in was also not liked by coach Jose Mourinho.
During his time at Man United, Sanchez was only able to achieve 2 goals and 4 assists from 27 appearances.
3. Angel Di Maria
After Alexis Sanchez, the most anticipated Man United player is Angel Di Maria. This Argentine player was signed for 67.5 million pounds in 2014. The Red Devils even gave the number 7 on his very iconic jersey.
Unfortunately, the Argentine couldn’t adjust to the rigours of English football. Di Maria couldn’t give his best when he played and it was very difficult to adapt. During joining Man United, Maria only lasted one season.
4. Babe
Prior to his move to Man United, Babe was picked up by Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes on a free transfer. Manchester United paid 8 million pounds in 2010 to get this Portuguese player.
But it’s a shame Babe was not given time to appear in Man United’s star-studded line-up. During joining, Babe was only able to display seven games for MU, including in the English League.
5. Eric Djemba-Djemba
Manchester United brought Eric Djemba-Djemba for 4.05 million pounds in 2003. Djemba-Djemba is predicted to be the successor, Roy Keane, the former midfielder captain. Unfortunately, that hope had to be dashed.
Because, during the two years he joined Man United, Djemba-Djemba were like fish running out of water, aka unable to do much. In 39 appearances Djemba-Djemba did not bring any impact for Man United. Djemba-Djemba was only able to score 2 goals and 3 assists and parted with Man Uni in 2005.
