Jerez circuit for the second time in a row held a MotoGP race series. After hosting the Spanish MotoGP 2020 on Sunday (7/19), Jerez will hold an Andalusia 2020 MotoGP race this weekend.
Quoted from MotoGP, here are seven interesting facts ahead of the 2020 Andalusia MotoGP:
1. The Andalusian MotoGP is the ninth different series that was held in Spain. The other eight Grand Prixes are the Aragon GP, Catalunya GP, European GP, FIM GP, Madrid GP, Portugal GP, Spanish GP, and Valencia GP. In 1987 and 1988, the Portuguese Grand Prix was held at the Jarama and Jerez Circuits.
2. For the first time in the history of the Grand Prix motorbike racing was held on the same circuit back-to-back. Two successive races on the same circuit have occurred at the Montjuic Circuit (Spanish GP), but in different seasons, namely in the last series of the 1954 season and the first race of the 1955 season.
3. In the 2020 Andalusia MotoGP, Ducati has the opportunity to become the fifth factory team capable of achieving 50 wins in the primary class after Honda (309), Yamaha (230), MV Agusta (139) and Suzuki (93).
4. At the Andalusia 2020 MotoGP, Ducati is eyeing the first victory at the Jerez Circuit in the primary class of the Grand Prix since Loris Capirossi won in 2006.
5. Ahead of the Andalusian MotoGP 2020 Monster Energy Yamaha Maverick Vinales rider became the 16th rider who was able to win 2,000 points in the motorcycle Grand Prix event. Now Vinales collected 2,005 points after finishing second in the Spanish MotoGP last weekend.
6. Through Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Vinales in MotoGP Spain 2020, Yamaha for the first time finished 1-2 in MotoGP since the French MotoGP 2017 through Vinales and Johann Zarco.
7. Andrea Dovizioso won the podium for the first time at the Jerez Circuit in 13 appearances in the primary class of the Grand Prix after finishing third in the Spanish MotoGP 2020.
