8 Players Jurgen Klopp Will Throw Away From Liverpool in the Summer of 2023, Who Are They?

Liverpool has had an unsatisfactory season so far. A situation that makes Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp feel the need to throw away several players in the summer of 2023.

The Reds, nicknamed Liverpool, need to make a major overhaul in the summer for various reasons. Starting from the declining performance of players to the age factor of Jurgen Klopp’s mainstay players.

The following are 8 players that Jurgen Klopp will throw away from Liverpool in the summer of 2023, quoting from Sportskeeda:

8. Arthur Melo

Arthur Melo is the first name that Jurgen Klopp needs to get rid of, this Brazilian player was brought in by Liverpool on loan from Juventus in the summer of 2022.

Instead of being a mainstay for Liverpool’s midfield, Arthur Melo actually spent more time in the treatment room and only appeared for 13 minutes in official competitions.

7. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the next player Jurgen Klopp needs to throw away. Having shone in his debut season at Liverpool (2017-2018), this former Arsenal player failed to return to his best performance after suffering a serious injury. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contract expires in the summer of 2023.

6. Naby Keita

Coming with great expectations from RB Leipzig, Naby Keita could not replicate his brilliant appearance when playing for the German League club. Naby Keita has been injured almost every season and after five seasons in a Liverpool shirt, it was time for Jurgen Klopp to let him go.

5. James Milner

James Milner is a senior figure in the current Liverpool squad, his ability to play in various positions is very much appreciated by Jurgen Klopp. However, at 37 years of age, this is the ideal time for Jurgen Klopp to let him go and not give him a new contract.

4. Nathaniel Phillips

Nathaniel Phillips was once a Liverpool hero when the team was hit by a hurricane of injuries two seasons ago. At the age of 25, Nathaniel Phillips certainly doesn’t want to continue to be a back-up and wants to play regularly. It makes sense for Jurgen Klopp to sell him in the summer of 2023.

3. Joel Matip

Since being brought in on a free transfer from Schalke 04, Joel Matip has become Jurgen Klopp’s mainstay at the back. However, his decline this season has been very clear, with Joel Matip still having a year remaining on his contract so Jurgen Klopp could cash in on selling him in the summer of 2023 to buy a new defender.

2. Adrian

Jurgen Klopp currently has two top goalkeepers in Alisson Bekcer and Caoimhin Kelleher, so Adrian’s strength is no longer needed. Jurgen Klopp also has plenty of young goalkeepers from Liverpool’s academy so getting rid of Adrian in the summer of 2023 should be one of his priorities.

1. Roberto Firmino

Roberto Firmino played a big part in Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp. The German really likes him, but Liverpool currently have Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez who can play as a centre-forward. Jurgen Klopp needs to let him go because there is no more place available for him.
