Winner for the second time in his career Sunday at Sepang GP, Max Verstappen, is reportedly suffered from a cooling before heading to Japan Grand Prix this weekend.
According to the Dutchman, his condition probably caused by the contrast between the moist heat of the paddock of Sepang and the coolness of the air conditioning in his hotel room.
“Normally I should feel good. But I’m really sick. I slept very badly last night and the recovery is much more difficult than normal.” Verstappen said on Sunday morning to Ziggo Sport.
“I don’t really feel well, with a stuffy nose and headaches. It will be better, but it will take a little time. I fly to Tokyo, days before going to Suzuka by train.” Verstappen added.
Verstappen defeated Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton at the Malaysian GP by shocking the Briton driver at the start of the first race to never be caught again. Some fan will point out that Red Bull was able to take advantage of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, who was starting from the last place on the starting grid.
However, Red Bull Racing director remains convinced that Verstappen would have managed to win against the Ferrari. “I think we had a better pace than all cars, Horner said.
“I think Sebastian was fast at the end of the race because he made his comeback, but I didn’t see a clear rhythm of their part, in supersoft or soft tyre, which was faster than we were capable to do. All weekend, the car was excellent.” Horner added.
For Red Bull, the biggest satisfaction came from winning the Grand Prix on a regular basis, not to mention racing incidents or failures affecting in particular the Mercedes, as was the chase previous victories since the beginning of the hybrid era.

“We were faster than expected, to be honest with you,” Horner said. “I think we felt we would be in good shape, the car was very good with the tyre in Friday, very fast at high speed, we can see that we were driving with slightly less support that the others, we don’t have the T-wing here for example, and I think we found a very good set-up, and then the drivers did absolutely what was expected of them.” Horner added.
