Fernadinho and Nicolas Otamendi close on a new contract at Manchester City, but the club have targeted two young talented stars as their perfect players in the future.
Fernadinho old deal was due to expire at the end of this season, that’s meaning the 32-year-old midfielder would have been free talk to other clubs in January.
However, Fernandinho is reportedly has singed his new contract with the club this week. The deal is thought to run until the end of the 2018/19 season.
According to reports, City manager Pep Guardiola has locked Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigel and Shakhtar Donnetsk midfielder Frederico Rodrigues to replacement Fernandinho in next summer.
Weigl, after the 2014/15 season transferred to Borussia Dortmund, where he signed a contract until 2021 summer. He scored 2 goals and in 20 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund this season.
The 22-year-old German international has built himself as a pivotal player for Dortmund this season and has caught the eye of European scouts thanks to his breakthrough into the Bundesliga club.
However, earlier this year, Weigl told to reporters that he’s still enjoy and happy to play alongside Dortmund and still hungry to create many scores until the end of 2017/18 season.
“I want to stay with the club because I want to renew my contract and stay here for many years. I am happy to be here with Dortmund.” Weigl said.

Frederico, meanwhile, he joined Shakhtar Donetsk in 2013 summer. He has been played in the Ukrainian giants, he played 142 times, scoring 13 goals. He also scored 2 goals assists 4 times for the club this season.
It is understood that Fred caught Guardiola’s fabcy when City and Shakhtar faced off in a Champions League match and the manager is eager on bringing the young talent to English Premier League.
Nicolas Otamendi, on the other hand, he is closing to sign on two-year new contract at Etihad. It is reported that the Argentine international contract expires in 2020 summer and if he signed new contract that’s mean he could stay until 2022 summer.
Otamendi transferred from Valencia in 2015 summer. The 29-year-old defender has been played 115 times, scoring 7 goals. In this season he scored 5 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens.
