Diego Maradona had advised Real Madrid to sign Kylian Mbappe and let Gareth Bale to go last summer. The Argentinean world champion seems to like PSG’s striker, whom he calls “the revelation of football”. However, Real president Florentino Perez refused to do any deal.
Bale, became the world’s most expensive player when Madrid signed him from English clubs Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
The Wales striker scored four goals and five assists in 11 games for Madrid this season. However, having been ruled out with a calf injury since late September, Bale has now suffered a thigh injury in training with Madrid.
The 28-year-old striker has been diagnosed with a strain the middle third of the adductor longus muscle in his left leg. His recovery will continue to be assessed.
Speaking to AS, Argentina legend Maradona adivised Madrid to sign Mbappe for the club because the 18-year-old striker has the potential and guts to make things work for Spanish giants.
“They should sell Bale, they should give him away. I expect Florentino wouldn’t, but maybe he can do a deal, let Bale go to AC Milan or Inter. They have to sign Mbappe, for me he’s the next big thing, he could overtake many players.” Maradona said.
“I told Frlorentino to sign Mbappe, when we saw each other at FIFA. He told me ‘But you know I have Cristiano and this other one.” he added.

Maradona has also called the French international among the players who deserve to disturb the eternal duel Lionel Messi-Criatiano Ronaldo for the winning of the Ballon d’Or.
“It would be necessary for others to get involved in the fight, like Edison [Cavani], Mbappe, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic. I don’t know, there should be some others. It is very difficult to give the Ballon d’Or to one player because just giving it to Cristiano and Messi is boring.
Mbappe, who turns 19 on December 20, completes a rousing year 2017. He became a club and selection holder, champion of France with Monaco, semi-finalist of the Champions League of which he is the top scorer under 20 years and the second most expensive transfer in his history last summer.
