Nico Rosberg announcing his sudden retirement

The year comes to an end there are a lot of changes happening on and off the circuit. Since the last race of the season a lot of jaws dropping events have happened and it all started with newly crowned champion Nico Rosberg announcing his sudden retirement. It came as a shock for everyone and was a big one for Team Mercedes who were looking forward to opening the season next year with a new high. However, it happened all of sudden and since then the Team is looking for a driver to fill its vacant hot seat. Since then something or the other is happening with one or the other teams in the Formula One racing. Now recently as per a BBC and AutoSport.com report McLaren Racing Chief Executive Jost Capito is set to follow Ron Dennis out of the Formula One team. However, McLaren did not comment on the reports and Capito was not available for any reaction.

Capito, 58-year old former Volkswagen motorsport director, was recruited by Dennis and was appointed in January but did not start the role at the Honda-powered team until September. Earlier Former team boss Dennis who also remains to be a 25 percent shareholder in McLaren was ousted in November and an American marketing expert Zak Brown coming in as the new Executive Director.

Capito was appointed by McLaren’s outgoing chairman and CEO Ron Dennis while Dennis was placed on gardening leave pending the expiration of his current contract on January 15, 2017. Capito’s position was regarded as vulnerable in some quarters and despite Capito’s strong motorsport background and his experience of guiding VW to world rally titles in both drivers and manufacturers championships for the past four consecutive seasons. In a separate development, the position of Ekrem Sami as a director of McLaren Technology Group was terminated on November 29.

Sami, 62 has been a close ally of Dennis for almost 40 years since working as his personal assistant at Project Four Racing the company that later merged with McLaren in 1980. Sami was largely responsible for leading McLaren’s commercial charge and the development of many of the team’s long-term partnership with sponsors.
