Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso said he’s very excited with Ducati’s new chassis performance on the second day of the 2018 MotoGP pre-season testing at Sepang track, Malaysia, on January 30.
However, the 31-year-old rider reveals that he still has not taken any conclusions because it has not recorded a lot of time with a new bike.
“I am very happy because this test has given us a lot of good feelings about the machine that are encouraging.” Dovizioso said.
“But you have to keep a cool head and not fire too fast. The three days of testing here in Malaysia were a little strange because I could not drive to the end, yesterday.
“Today I fell, which cost me two precious hours. At the end of the day, I could not drive the 2018 bike due to problems. We went back to the 2017 bike but we learned a lot from here.
“Now we are faster, the bike is better in the middle of the curve than last year. Unfortunately, today I couldn’t take a very fast lap because I fell this morning. I didn’t want to use all the tyres in the morning and we didn’t use the last set of soft tyres. But it doesn’t matter. The bike is more competitive than last year.” the Italian rider added.
Dovizioso finished second place in last season, but this season with Ducati Desmosedici GP18, he promises and ready to fight the title with the other top MotoGP riders.
“I feel so good, even better than yesterday. We’ve also compared the old motor and the new motor. We also managed to confirm the positive things, we are more aware about the small details, positive and negative I am very happy.” Dovizioso said.
“We have to wait for the first GP of Qatar to draw the first conclusions, because the tests are purely indicative. Our pace has never been exceptional in the three days.

“A new chassis will be tested in Thailand, to see if it will bring something new or not. We now have to focus on the 2018 bike, which should continue to develop. Jorge Lorenzo and I will also be able to benefit from a second 2018 machine in Thailand.” former Honda’s rider added.
Dovizioso and his team-mate Lorenzo will spend for couple days in Buriram track, Thailand, for their next testing. Buriram track has replaced Phillip Island as a pre-season testing venue.
