Aaron Wise produced a stunning blemish-free 65 to secure a maiden PGA Tour title at a weather-affected AT&T Byron Nelson in Texas.
The 21-year-old struck six birdies in an impressive display at Trinity Forest Golf Club to finish three strokes clear of Marc Leishman, on a day where play was delayed by four hours due to bad weather.
Branden Grace fired a round-of-the-day 62 to share third spot with J.J Spaun and Keith Mitchell, who both posted closing 63s, with Jimmy Walker a further two strokes back in sixth spot.
“It’s a dream come true to win this one,” Wise said. “I felt oddly calm all day long and to pull it off and play as good as I did was awesome.”
Wise, beginning the day tied for the lead, was handed the outright advantage when Leishman three-putted the second and increased his cushion by holing a 10-footer at the fourth.
Leishman responded by driving the par-four fifth green and making an eagle, as Wise posted a six-foot birdie, before the pair posted matching back-to-back gains from the seventh.
Wise continued his birdie run by picking up shots at the ninth and 10th, while Leishman opened his back nine with a bogey to slip down the leaderboard.
Leishman converted from 15 feet at the 12th and cancelled out a bogey at the 15th with a five-foot gain at the par-four next, only for Wise to close out victory in near-darkness with a string of pars.
