Jorge Lorenzo successfully beat Valentino Rossi in MotoGP Italy. Ducati’s Rider Lorenzo claimed his first MotoGP victory since the last time 2016.
Lorenzo, who started from second place at Autodromo Mugello Circuit on Sunday (3/6/2018), dashed from the start. He can lead the race early, leaving Rossi who even scattered despite status of pole position.
Lorenzo showed his best ability by appearing dominant throughout the race. Since the start, the owner of five world titles was almost untouched in the leading position. With a record time of 41 minutes 42.230 seconds, He held on till the end with Italian Ducati teammate Andrea Dovizioso finishing second and Rossi from the Yamaha team who had to settle for finish in positions three.
Marquez appeared promising at the start by being in the front row before falling. Although able to continue the race, Honda’s rider failed to bring home the number after the 16th finish.
However, Marquez has not wavered from the top of standings. The defending champions still lead the championship by gaining 95 points ahead 23 points from Rossi, his closest rival. Vinales in third (67) is one digit from Dovizioso.
Meanwhile, an additional 25 points make Lorenzo climb to 10th place with 41 points.
For Lorenzo, this became his first victory after fasting podium since joining Ducati in the 2017 season. The last time Lorenzo won happened while still racing for Yamaha.
Lorenzo’s last victory was recorded at MotoGP Valencia in 2016. BT Sport mentions, this 31-year old racer took 567 days to return to the podium. Now, the Spaniard has collected one victory, once runner-up, and two third finish with the Italian manufacturer. this has become a complete podium victory for Ducati from Lorenzo.
