Win over Egypt, Russia make sure to qualify for Round of 16

Russia’s national team ensured qualification for the round of 16 after winning over Egypt with a score of 3-1 in the group stage A World Cup 2018 at the St Petersburg Stadium on Wednesday (20/6).

Goals from Russia were scored by Denis Cheryshev, Dzyuba and an own goal from Egyptian player Ahmed Fathy. While an Egyptian goal was created by Mohamed Salah.

Russia appeared pressing since the start of the first half began. In the fifth minute, opportunities are obtained by the host. Bait from Aleksandr Samedov forwarded by Sergey Ignashevich’s header. Unfortunately, header from Ignashevich still weak so it can still be secured by the goalkeeper of Eygpt, El Shenawy.

Instead of creating a goal, Egyptian goalkeeper just re-conceded in the 59th minute. Goals from Russia were created through Denis Cheryshev after calmly took advantage of a horizontal cross from Mario Fernandes. Score 2-0.

Three minutes later, Egypt again made powerless after Russia scored again for their third goal by their striker, Dzyuba. Score 3-0.

In the 72nd minute, Egypt was awarded a penalty by the referee, after Salah was dropped in the penalty box by a Russian player. Salah who became the executioner did not waste a golden opportunity. He successfully deceived the Russian goalkeeper, Igor Akinfeev. Russia remain 3-1 ahead. Egypt is working hard to catch up. The Pharaohs came out attacking to suppress the Russian defense. Unfortunately, until the end of the game no additional goals are created. Score 3-1 to the advantage of the host remained until end of the game. This Russian victory at the same time make them ascertained qualify for Round of 16.

As for Egypt, two defeats they suffered in the group phase, making Egypt’s chance to pass to the next round becomes aground already. Throughout the game, Russia fired three accurate shots from eleven attempts, with 47 percent ball possession. As for Egypt fired one shot out of 13 experiments.
