Ohara Davies wants to fight the winner of Jack Catterall vs Tyron McKenna

WBC champion Ohara Davies is likely to make his next defense of the title against the winner of Jack Catterall vs Tyrone McKenna.

Unbeaten super-light Catterall (21-0, 12 KOs) and McKenna (16-0-1, 6 KOs) will fight at The SEE Arena in Belfast on June 30 after McKenna’s original opponent Phil Sutcliffe Jr suffered an injury.

Davies on last weekend knocked out Paul Kamanga in the second round to claim the WBC international super-light title at the O2 in London.

Kamanga was late replacement after original opponent Josh Leather pulled out after deciding he need “a break from boxing”.

“At first I wanted Catterall to win, but I don’t give a damn. I want them both to lose so hopefully there is a doubt knockout or a draw,” Davies said.

“If there was a double knockout that would be perfect. I would be the happiest man alive if that occurred. To be honest, I don’t think McKenna is very good and he is going to get spanked inside five rounds by Catterall.

“McKenna knows how to talk a good game, but I don’t think he has any talent whatsoever. He hasn’t fought anyone good in his boxing career and when he fought anyone half decent he had life and death.

“I was going to go Belfast and watch the fight, but I have decided to stay safe and watch on TV. I don’t think I am a fans favourite in Belfast.” Davies added.

Davies in last January decided to leave promoter Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and joined forces with promoter Frank Warren. And the 26-year-old British boxer ready to challenge the winner of this weekend’s fight.

“I will fight whoever Frank puts in front of me – the winner of Catterall vs McKenna, even Maurice Hooker who beat Terry Flanagan.” Davies said.

“I have passed Catterall and McKenna profile wise so I am not looking up to them. They are looking up to me. Beating me does them more good then me beating either of them.

“They are both jealous that I have signed to Frank and I am getting all the exposure on a platform they have been on for longer. They have to accept sometimes that I am a bigger fighter than them both. I am more known than them and I sell more tickets than them.” Davies added.
