In western Canada, casino operator Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited has announced that its $43 million transformation of the Palace Casino into its new Starlight Casino Edmonton has been completed and is to be officially opened on September 26. Plethora of gaming attractions: The Vancouver-based firm used a Friday press release to reveal that the soon-to-premiere venue is located next to the West Edmonton Mall and will offer six restaurants alongside 120,000 sq ft of ‘entertainment space’ featuring some 768 slots as well as 32 gaming tables. Gateway is responsible for 27 gaming properties spread across Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia and moreover explained that its coming Edmonton property is to come complete with an eight-table poker room alongside private salons for VIP gaming.
Latest Edmonton investment: Tony Santo, Chief Executive Officer for Gateway, declared that the forthcoming opening of Starlight Casino Edmonton represents the completion of the privately-held firm’s ‘largest redevelopment investment in western Canada.’ He detailed that the project created in excess of 300 jobs and followed on from the operator’s late-2016 opening of the $24 million Grand Villa Edmonton venue some 7.8 miles away in downtown Edmonton. Santo’s statement read… “We are very excited to officially launch the new Starlight Casino Edmonton. I know that Starlight Casino Edmonton along with our Grand Villa Edmonton location at ICE District will be a significant addition to the entertainment landscape in Edmonton.”
Join the opening party: Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Limited stated that will be holding a grand opening ceremony for its new Starlight Casino Edmonton next Wednesday that is to be followed by a party hosted by former National Hockey League (NHL) defenseman, Jason Strudwick. It confirmed that guests will be able to enjoy live entertainment throughout the property from 6pm encompassing performances by Campfire Heroes, Matt Day and a selection of DJs alongside special giveaways, food and beverage offers and ‘a few surprises.’
