Jose Mourinho asks media to criticise Tottenham after Liverpool defeat

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho thinks the media should criticise Tottenham after their defeat to Liverpool on Saturday. Manchester United manager Mourinho has been vocal in his criticism of the media following his side’s indifferent start to the new Premier League campaign. The Red Devils boss stormed out of a press conference calling for more respect after his team were thumped 3-0 by Tottenham at Old Trafford last month. And he then went on a Louis van Gaal-esque rant on Friday, with the United boss taking aim at critics over his handling of Marcus Rashford. Tottenham, meanwhile, were stung by the Hornets before the international break before losing to Liverpool at the weekend.

And Mourinho has called on the media to blast Spurs over their own poor form. “Tottenham have now lost two straight,” he told journalist Renato Senise. “If there is equality of treatment, if there is equality in the way of looking and reporting, they will leave us calm and will start bothering others.” Mourinho also talked to ESPN Brasil, opening up on why he defended his Rashford treatment. “Just to give as an example last week, which was a week full of criticism of the number of games that Marcus Rashford does not play, according to them,” he said. “And then it comes to the conclusion that of all the young English players, selectable for the national team, so to speak, he’s the player who has more games played. “This clearly reflects that the goal is not to speak the truth that the goal is to destabilise a group that works as you have seen today. “That even in difficulty in the final part of the game, went to the end, fought for the three points.”

Mourinho thinks the media go hard on United because of the size of the club. And, regarding himself, he puts what he perceives to be an injustice down to his own successful record. “Maybe United’s story and my story,” he said when asked. “United won a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot. And I also won a lot, a lot, a lot. Maybe people tire a little of it. “But at least we will continue to do our work and little by little we go, because we started really badly with two defeats. “But we already have the same points as Arsenal, we already have the same points as Tottenham and we are getting there little by little.”
