Cheating at Casino: A bad Habit

For many gambling is a source of entertainment that involves winning or losing a big amount of money. In casinos you are allowed to gamble as much as you can afford without the fear of getting arrested as long as your observe the rules set by casino authorities. Regardless the excitement and thrill offered by gambling there is always a great risk attached to it, but then no pain no gain!!

According to a study conducted by a research and professional service firm, Spectrum Gaming group, U.S casinos made $62.2 billion in 2011, thus attracting attention of people who are looking for a quick way to make big money.  George Joseph, a casino cheating expert says that the industry loses 10s of million every year because of cheating.

Many people tend to rely on cheating in order to reduce the risk and increase the chances of winning, but what they fail to understand is that they might get into serious trouble. Casinos around the world have started to dedicate massive amount of resources to catch people who are inclined to cheat. Due to the advancement in technology, casinos have become vigilant and cheating them is becoming difficult day by day.  They have specially trained camera present on every table. These cameras are always in search of anything suspicious.

Once people start to cheat, they make a habit of it. Without thinking about the consequences, they keep on cheating. They think they no one will ever know, but they are wrong. Eventually they will be caught and then they would have to pay the penalty. No matter how they are pulling the scam may it be via high tech devices or traditional sleight of hand tricks, they are illegal.  For those who are caught, they will end up behind the bars. The penalties vary from country to country, for example, in Nevada if someone is caught cheating he or she might go to prison for one to six years or he/she might be fined up to $10,000. In serious cases, the cheater will not only go to prison, but he shall have to the fine as well. Below are some examples of people who cheated at casino and ended up in jail.

Tommy Glenn Carmichael: He started cheating in 1960 when his friend introduced him to the “top-bottom joint. He use to scam the coins out of the machines, however, he was caught in 1985 and sentenced to five years in prison.

Ron Harris: This intelligent computer technician use to check and test the slot machines to make sure that only the authorized chips were used. He used his knowledge along with access to Bally’s programing in order to cheat. Ron and his partner did manage to make some money, but eventually they were caught and Ron lost his job.
