Cristiano Ronaldo left out Portugal in next four games by the coach Fernando Santos

Cristiano Ronaldo would miss Portugal’s next four games in October and November, according to his coach Fernando Santos. But the 63-year-old coach has denied revealing the reasons for the absence of his superstar.

The five-time Ballon d’Or had already missed both games in early September, but his coach then hinted that his absence would be temporary as it was intended to facilitate Ronaldo’s “adaptation process” to his new club Juventus Turin.

“There was a conversation with the player, the president of the federation [Fernando Gomes] and I. we agreed that the [layer would not be in these two call-ups, this and the next in November.” Santos told reporters.

“I will not reveal the details of the conversation we had at three. That’s not what I’m saying now. “In the feature, nothing prevents Cristiano from his contribution to the national team.” Santos added.

Ronaldo will miss Portugal’s four games in the League of Nations, and against Scotland, then the meetings of the next international game, scheduled for November against Italy in Milan and Poland at home.

The Former Real Madrid forward has strongly denied on Wednesday an accusation of rape made against him by former model Kathryn Mayorga at a Las Vegas night club in 2009.

In interview with German magazine Der Spiegel on last weekend the 34-year-old American woman gave extensive details of her claims.

Asked about recent rape charges against Ronaldo, coach Santos backed his superstar at Portugal national team and believes his superstar is a good man.

“I know Cristiano Ronaldo very well and I fully believe in his word. He would never commit a crime like this.” Santos said.

“I personally always support my players and here it is not even a question of solidarity, I believe what the player said publicly, he considers [rape] an abject act and clearly reaffirms that he is innocent of what he is being accused.” Santos added.

The list of 25 players selected for the next two matches is marked by the return of Lokomotiv striker Eder who had given Portugal the title of European champion in the final of Euro 2016 against France with a brilliant goal.
