Arrivabene rejected ‘false rumours’ of Binotto switching teams

Maurizio Arrivabene had strictly rejected “false rumours” regarding Ferrari Formula 1 technical director Mattia Binotto leaving the teams. He denounced the rumours while designating them as trouble makers and to “create instability” at their team.

After Lewis Hamilton aced his fifth world championship at Mexicao, rumors spread widely about Swiss. Arrivabene and Binotto are reportedly believed to be at bad terms after Ferrari’s lead driver Sebastian Vettel failed to find his place at the top.

Interests from other teams in Ferrari’s technical chief are also believed to played their part in their strained relationship. The offers suggests that it might trigger him to change the employer.

James Allison, former technical director, was replaced by Binotto for his winless season in 2016. Ferrari F1 performance enhanced after team’s decision, which is now credited to the current technical chief.

Previously, before being promoted to chief position of overseeing the complete project, he had worked in power unit department.

Arrivabene was hit with difficult questions regarding his future and Binotto during his interaction with the selected media.

Let’s make it clear once and for all,” he said, “The rumours about Mattia are a fake news, put around to create instability in the team.

“It is an attempt to try to create problems where there are no problems, and I do not want to comment on false rumours anymore.

“During this season there have been many attempts at destabilisation, sometimes with stories about the drivers, others about the technicians.

“My position? Ask [Ferrari] managing director [Louis] Camilleri.”

Arrivabene explained that their team is currently working optimally. He went on saying that the team does not require any changes or reinforcement to increase their performance for 2019.

“No one has ever spoken of goodbyes, possibly we can talk about reinforcements,” he said.

“But it takes time, we’ll think about it next season. Today the team is there, and it’s a good and compact team.

“If there are reinforcements they will arrive without any haste, I stress it, and [only] if we need to have them.

“The line is that of stability, if there are additions [they] will not undermine the soundness of the existing group.

“A team that works only needs reinforcements, not revolutions. Personally, I have never believed in revolutions, but in evolution.”
