Arsenal’s legend, Ian Wright, considers that selling Aaron Ramsey will be more profitable for the Gunners.
Ian Wright concerned on the situation of Aaron Ramsey’s contract at Arsenal, especially after Arsenal’s management reportedly stopped the discussion of the extension of Aaron Ramsey’s tenure. The Welsh midfielder contract in the club itself will expire at the end of this season. However, the option of selling Aaron Ramsey rated Ian Wright was the right decision for Arsenal coach Unai Emery.
“I think, now is the right time for us (Arsenal) and for him (Ramsey) to move”, Wright said in his Youtube channel, reported by the Goal website. “I think the boss (Emery) should be given, now, the time and especially the money, to try and find maybe one or two replacements for someone like Aaron Ramsey, rather than giving Ramsey the kind of money he was asking for,” he said.
The legend who defended the Gunners in the 1991-1998 periods even considered if Ramsey’s sales could be used to get a better replacement. “We can also get some players to fill in the gap whether it’s in the upcoming transfer market (winter January 2019) or summer (2019) later,” he said.
Aaron Ramsey is currently rumored to have reached a personal agreement with the German League giants Bayern Munich. According to Transfermrkt, the market price of the 27-year-old Welshman is estimated at 40.5 million pounds.
Now, as Unai Emery is looking at possible replacements, Pablo Fornals is on the top of his wishlist. The 22-year-old, like Ramsey, is quite direct in his approach to the game, willing to drive the ball forward quickly rather than sit back and spread the play. He is energetic and likes to track back and help out the defense and is great at transitioning between defense and attack. His versatility means he is equally adept at playing on either flank which would allow Mkhitaryan or Ozil to slot into their favoured No.10 role. With Arsenal on the lookout for a relatively cheaper option, Fornals could fit the bill perfectly.
Fornals has risen to prominence with stunning displays for Villarreal in the past couple of seasons. However, with the Spanish side languishing in 12th spot in the league, he might be tempted to jump ship to a team capable of providing him with Champions League football.
