Former Brazilian footballer Ricardo Kaka told of his bad experience while playing at Real Madrid. Kaka had joined Real Madrid from 2009-2013. However, during his time at Los Merengues, he did not find his best game compare to while he was still at AC Milan. For five seasons in white and white uniform, Kaka can only contribute 39 assists and 29 goals from 120 matches in all competitions. In an interview with SporTV recently, Kaka told two problems he experienced during his stay in Madrid, namely a long injury and the presence of Jose Mourinho. “My main problem at Real Madrid was injury and then when I returned (recovered), Mourinho was there,” Kaka was quoted as saying by Diario AS on Monday (12/31/2018).
According to Kaka, for three seasons, he always tried to convince Mourinho so that he would be able to play. However, the Portuguese coach always refused. “Mesut Oezil is in front of me on the team and I often try to persuade Mourinho that I have something to contribute,” Kaka said. “I never threatened to want to go and notify the press. I did not screw up. However, I thought I had something to contribute,” he added.
Despite having an unfavorable working relationship with Mourinho, Kaka stated, personally, he and Mourinho had no problems. Kaka even claimed to have met Mou while visiting Manchester. According to Kaka, Mourinho is a smart coach. As evidence, he said Mourinho had presented the La Liga championship trophy and brought Madrid through to the Champions League semifinals. “I live in the same hotel in Manchester where Mourinho lives and we talk for two hours, it’s not a problem,” said the player who ended his career in Orlando City.
Kaka decided to return to AC Milan to part with Mourinho in the 2013-2014 season on a free transfer.
“I have tried, fought and prayed, but when he (Mourinho) did not give me trust (to play), I thought I could no longer work with him,” Kaka said. He added, “One of our best moments happened when we both left Real Madrid. (At that time), he said that I was one of the most professional players he had trained, he was very kind.”
