Deontay Wilder is ready for the Tyson Fury rematch

After two full months of controversy, debate, intense negotiations and trash talk from either side, former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (27-0-1, 19 KOs) will get his second chance against WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (40-0-1, 39 KOs), in New York.

According to reports, both fighters’ next fight would likely take place at Barclays Center, Brooklyn, in New York, on April 27 or May 18, 2019.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena is the other combat site considered by the organizers of the event that will be featured on Showtime Pay-Per-View (PPV), but an agreement to announce the Barclays Center as the venue for second fight for Wilder against Fury is scheduled to be done in the next few weeks.

“Wilder and Fury gave boxing one of the best fights in the heavyweight division a long time, which has created tremendous popular demand for the fans to see a rematch. The WBC is happy to confirm that a direct rematch has been approved and will create in a ruling which will also consider the mandatory status of the division.” the WBC in a statement said.

In last year’s fight Fury was knocked down twice but in making the final bell was widely thought to have done enough to outpoint his American opponent at Staples Center.

However, although one judge scored the fight 114-112 for fury, another saw it as a 115-111 victory for Wilder and the final scorecard declared it a 113-113 draw.

Fury previously held the WBA Super, IBF and WBO world titles after beating Wladimir Klitshcko four years ago but he was stripped of the IBF title after failing to face the mandatory challenger and vacated the remainder amid doping controversy and mental health problems.

Meanwhile, the welterweight clash between American Terence Crawford and Britain’ s Amir Khan will be broadcast on ESPN Pay-Per-View on April 20, at Madison Square Garden in New York.

However, if the duel is scheduled for May 18, it would be broadcast essentially one month after the ESPN PPV. This would probably have the effect of increasing the number of buyers for this event on pay.
