Brazil and Argentina were called as the two strongest country in South America region, it is not something surprising if we can look at their trophy cabinet especially after their success in World Cup.
Canarinha (the nickname for Brazil) is recorded as the most successful team in World Cup with collection of five trophies. All of that five trophies are 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and the last one was in 2002. Meanwhile Argentina could record their name in World Cup history twice, in 1978, and in 1986.
However, if it comes to Copa America trophy (a tournament held for all south America team), Brazil and Argentina are not the most successful team. Then which country could beat the duo Brazil and Argentina in the collection of Copa America silverware?
The answer is Uruguay. Los Celeste – Uruguay nickname – were recorded as champions for 15 events. The very first trophy came in 1916, and the latest was in 2011.
How about Argentina and Brazil collection of Copa America trophies then? Argentina and Brazil are in 2nd and 3rd position respectively as team with the most Copa America trophies collection. La Albiceleste – nickname for Argentina – collected 14 trophies while Brazil could only had 8 Copa America Silverware.
