Lewis Hamilton Wins Monaco Grand Prix

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton won Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. The Brit He took the win from pole in front of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel in second and his teammate Valtteri Bottas in third.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, meanwhile, was in fourth but had finished second on track, harrying Hamilton to the flag. However, the Ducth driver received a 5-second time penalty for hitting the Mercedes driver Bottas into the pit lane.

It was the local of the stage, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, who animated the beginning of the race and caused a cascade of events. Starting 15th after a complete miss, he had to retire on the 18th lap after catching Nico Hulkenberg’s Renault trying to overtake him.

A puncture caused by this accident forced him to return to the stands on three wheels causing too much damage to his car to allow him to continue.

But while driving with his tire torn off, Leclerc sprinkled the track with pieces of carbon from his body, forcing an intervention of the safety car to clean it.

Verstappen Animates the Race

That did not stop Verstappen from animating the race by hugging the leader Hamilton for several tens of laps, while Bottas had to stop again to change a broken rim in the clash with Verstappen and start again in fourth place.

On several occasions, Hamilton made it known at his stand that he wanted to stop to change tires, but his team left him on the track, the five-time world champion expressing his disagreement by radio interposed.

The commissioners opened a new investigation into this incident, before confirming the British victory a little later.

The surprise of this Grand Prix came from the good result of the Toro Rosso, who finished respectively 7th with the Russian Daniil Kvyat and 8th with the Thai Alexander Albon.

Australian Daniel Ricciardo took 9th place ahead of Haas’ Romain Grosjean, who finished at this position on the track but also received a penalty of 5-second which pushed him back notch.
