Liverpool, Klopp and End of Rich Club Domination

Wanda Metropolitano Stadium witnessed Liverpool won the title of King of Europe. The Reds managed to conquer State rivals Tottenham Hotspur with score 2-0.

Mohammed Salah and Divock Origi contributed the two goals to Liverpool’s victory. This victory further clarifies the dominance of English clubs in Europe while at the same time breaking the dominance of rich clubs in the European Elite League.

Liverpool won the 6th title in the Champions League, after being last won in 2004-2005.

Break the Rich Club Domination

Besides the dominance of the English Premier League over Europe, Liverpool’s match against Tottenham Hotspur also recorded its own history. This final match managed to break the dominance of wealthy clubs in the party’s peak of the most prestigious competition in Europe.

For the first time since 2004, the Champions League top party brought together two clubs that are outside of the fifth-richest European club. A miracle if financial becomes a benchmark for a club’s achievements.

For Liverpool’s living legend, Robbie Flower the success of the two clubs is inseparable from the coach’s cold hands. Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Phocettino deserve to be appreciated for this season’s achievements.

Both coaches managed to restore the philosophy and tradition of football, namely spirit and togetherness.

Jurgen Klopp has a remarkable analysis in forming team composition. Liverpool do need big funds to buy players, but Klopp has no hesitation in selling club star Filipe Coutinho to Barcelona. Klopp really has a pretty good analysis of the team’s needs.

Klopp and Special Runner-Up

Klopp deserves to be nicknamed Mr. Runner-up, how could the German coach not too often run aground in the final. For the European scene, Klopp has run aground three times in the final.

In the 2012/2013 Champions League together with Borussia Dortmund made it to the final, but ran stranded by State rivals Bayern Munich. The 2015/2016 season was beaten by Sevilla in the European Cup. Then, the 2017/2018 season lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League Final.

Until 2018 overall Klopp has recorded six defeats in seven major finals during his career as a coach. The only victory was in 2012 at the DFB Pokal with Dortmund.

Entering the end of the 2019 Premier League season, Mr. Runner Up is still attached to Klopp. Liverpool were only able to occupy the position of runner-up in the English Premier League after Manchester City locked the title dramatically in Week 38 with 98 points to one point adrift of Liverpool.

The 2019 Champions League Final is the next test for Klopp. Successfully cut off the runner-up curse chain or not. Meeting country rivals Tottenham Hotspur is a place of proof.

Seeing two matches in the League, Tottenham Hotspur really is not a tough opponent. Recorded Liverpool managed to lock the victory in two EPL matches.

Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday (02/06/2019) early morning hrs became a place of proof for Klopp. Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspor with a score of two goals without reply. Finally Klopp won the first European trophy and ended the nickname of Mr. Runner Up.
