2019 Copa America Results, Uruguay Harvests Goals, Asian Reps Play Draw

Uruguay national team achieved positive results in their inaugural match in the 2019 Copa America, Sunday (06/16/2019). In the match of Uruguay vs Ecuador at the Estadio Governador Magalhaes Pinto, Belo Horizone, Luis Suarez and others won 4-0.

These results made Uruguay to temporarily lead the Group C. This is because other matches, Japan vs Chile, will be contested on Monday (06/17/2019) local time.

In the Uruguay vs Ecuador match, both teams immediately played aggressively since the kick-off whistle sounded. Ecuador had a chance in the first minute. However, it was precisely Uruguay who could score on his first chance.

While the game has been running for six minutes only, Oscar Tabarez’s team was able to excel quickly. Nicolas Lodeiro was able to take a cross from Luis Suarez well, then kicked the ball through his left foot. The ball goes to the corner of the goal and the Ecuador goalkeeper can’t drive it.

In the 24th minute, bad luck struck Ecuador. They had to lose one player after Jose Quinteros was sent off by the referee.

Playing with 10 players, Hernan Dario Gomez’s squad was overwhelmed. According to Conmebol’s record – the South American Confederation of Football – Uruguay is 61 percent ahead of possession. They can also create 18 opportunities compared to two by Ecuador.

As a result, Ecuador conceded again in the 33rd minute. This time, Edinson Cavani’s beautiful overhead kick received a pass from Diego Godin.

Towards the end of the first half, Ecuador had to let their team concede the third time. It was Luis Suarez’s turn which struck the ball against Alexander Carabali. Score 3-0 for Uruguay’s advantage lasted until halftime.

Entering the second half, the tempo of the match slowed down. The intensity of the attacks launched by Uruguay also declined. In the end, Arturo Mina’s own goal in the 78th minute completed Uruguay’s 4-0 victory.

While in another match, Qatar managed to hold Paraguay’s draw in the group B phase match. Playing at the Maracana Stadium, Brazil, Monday (06/17/2019), representatives from Asia played 2-2 series.

The draw was a positive note for Qatar because it had left behind two goals first. Paraguay were two goals ahead of Oscar Cardozo’s penalty (4 ‘) and Derlis Gonzalez (56’).

Qatar got up and could equalize via Almoez Ali (68 ‘) and Boualem Khoukhi (77’). Playing a draw with Paraguay is a positive result for Qatar which incidentally first competed in the 2019 Copa America.
