Lautaro Martinez does appear sharper for the Argentine national team in the 2019 Copa America. However, coach Lionel Scaloni considers that Lionel Messi’s figure remains the most important for his squad.
Lautaro scored one goal when Argentina won 2-0 against Venezuela in the Copa America quarter-finals on Saturday (06/29/2019) early morning hrs. This is Inter Milan’s second goal in the 2019 Copa America.
In the meantime, the number of goals scored by Lautaro is even better than Sergio Aguero and Messi. The two Argentine top bombers have only scored one goal in the 2019 Copa America.
Even so, Lionel Scaloni still did not want to revile Messi because of the minimal number of goals. Because, for the 41-year coach, Messi’s role remains the most important for La Celeste’s squad.
“I think, along with many other players, that Lionel Messi has had an important impact on the field,” Scaloni said, quoted from Goal International.
“If you are here to see how big the contribution is in the dressing room, how big is the role for his teammates, maybe you will think differently. I can make sure that he is a big part of this team,” said Scaloni.
Lionel Messi scored for the Argentine national team in the match against Paraguay. The goal was scored by the 32-year-old player through penalty execution. In the match, Argentina drew with a score of 2-2.
Lionel Messi himself admitted that he did not perform optimally at the 2019 Copa America. There were several reasons raised by the Barcelona club player. One of them is because the quality of the field is very bad.
“I have no doubt that [Messi is an important player for Argentina]. Messi is Messi and he is the best. He is better than other players,” Scaloni stressed.
Argentina has now qualified for the 2019 Copa America semifinal. In this phase, Argentina will meet host Brazil. The match will be held on 2 July at the Belo Horizonte Stadium.
