Neymar future is still uncertain for the moment. His contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in 2022 but Spanish media understand that his situation will be complicated.
The Brazilian is unhappy at PSG, and as a result, links to Barcelona and rivals Real Madrid and Manchester United have arisen.
Speaking to Spanish reporters, former Barcelona player Rivaldo loves to see Neymar return to the Catalan club than others clubs.
“I would love for Neymar to return. It would be good for Barca and for Neymar. It was a mistake that he left. He doesn’t say that, nor does his father, but it was.” Rivaldo said.
“He had four or five years left on his contract at Barca and didn’t need to leave. The fans didn’t want him to go. I think 70% wanted him to stay but he’s got a strong personality and if he returns, puts the ball in the back of the net, beats Real Madrid and wins a Champions League the people will forget that.
“The supporters want to win the Champions League and play well, to keep their style, and many are frustrated due to the sudden changes. He’s 27 and has a lot of years left in him yet. He could win another treble, it would be incredible.” Rivaldo added.
Neymar only moved to PSG in 2017 for world record €222 million, but reports have claimed he is underwhelmed by both life in the French capital and at the club itself.
Madrid are poised to spend big money this summer. They want several new names, and Neymar is one of their priority targets. However, Rivaldo warned former his club no to let his fellow to join Zinedine Zidane’s side.
“I don’t know what is going to happen but I’d prefer he was in Barcelona rather than in Madrid. If he goes to Madrid, that isn’t good for Barça. If he goes there, they’ll be really strong.” Rivaldo said.
Rivaldo spent five seasons at Barcelona, he scored 86 goals in 157 matches in all competitions for the Blaugrana.
