Auto battler fever has become an epidemic that covers all corners of the world. Do not believe? Just look at what happened over the past month. Not just one or two, but three different companies announced their respective auto battler products. Drodo Studio with its original Auto Chess, Valve with Dota Underlords, even Riot Games launched Teamfight Tactics mode for League of Legends fans.
The auto battler genre also seems to have the potential to become one of the popular competitive game branches. It didn’t take long, Drodo Studio and ImbaTV had launched a US $ 1,000,000 prize tournament in China. Valve did not want to lose. Now they hook ESL to hold the first official Dota Underlords tournament in the world. The thrill is that this tournament will be held simultaneously in the 2019 ESL One Hamburg event.
Compared to the Auto Chess tournament, this Dota Underlords tournament is indeed far behind in terms of prize money. ESL only provides a prize pool of 5,000 Euros. But the advantages, ESL allows anyone who comes to the ESL One Hamburg 2019 event to participate. Different from Drodo tournament which is invitational in nature or closed to invited participants.
ESL has not yet announced more details about this Dota Underlords tournament. What is clear is that the ESL One Hamburg 2019 event will be held on October 25-27, located at Barclaycard Arena, Hamburg, Germany. The venue has a capacity of around 16,000 spectators, and ESL provides a variety of entertainment activities for visitors to enjoy. These include the ESL Shop which sells official Dota 2 merchandise, cosplay competitions, drawing workshops, and signature sessions with professional Dota 2 athletes.
The main menu of the 2019 ESL One Hamburg itself is a US $ 300,000 Dota 2 tournament. ESL invited 8 teams to compete immediately, plus 4 other teams who came through the qualification path from the European region / Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), North America, China and Southeast Asia.
Unfortunately at the moment ESL has not yet announced what teams will participate in the Dota 2 tournament. Could Team Secret, the ESL One Hamburg 2018 champion, be able to retain the title? Or will an unexpected new champion emerge? What about Dota Underlords, is it capable of competing with Drodo’s Auto Chess or even a fate like the Artifact? Will there be an Indonesian Dota 2 team that will appear on ESL One Hamburg, like last year’s EVOS? Let’s just wait for all the answers in October.
