Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo received the 2019 Marca Legend award. He received the award at a ceremony in Madrid on Monday.
Speaking after receiving the award Ronaldo said: “First of all, I want to thank everybody who came here today, the press, my team, my girlfriend, Jorge [Mendes], thanks for coming, my ex-president Florentino [Perez], also Emilo [Butrageuno] and all representatives who are here in this beautiful act,”
“I’m really proud of this. It’s a very important award for me, I want to thank Marca for this, I’m really honoured. I know the story and winners of this award so it’s proudly going straight to my museum, I have a beautiful spot for it.” Ronaldo added.
Ronaldo spent nine years with Real Madrid. He won all titles during his services under at Santiago Bernabeu. The 33 year-old admitted that Madrid is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and there is always special for the Portuguese to return to the city.
“It’s always special to come back to Madrid. As I said before and will keep saying it’s one of the most beautiful cities in the world, I travel a lot but it’s hard to see cities better than Madrid, Portugal as country is better than Madrid.” Ronaldo said.
“But now I’m focused on Italy and Juventus where we’re all very happy. But you never know. We had beautiful times in this city and of course I could return to live. We’ll see.” he added.
When asked about Juventus chances to win Champions League in up coming season, Ronaldo said: “I don’t know. We will try as always, we know it is a very difficult competition. Every team wants to win it.”
“Real Madrid, Barcelona who have bought well, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City and Juventus will obviously be fighting for it but only one team can win it. And I hope it is Juventus, hopefully.” Ronaldo added.
Ronaldo and Juventus will begin their an away Serie A 2019/20 campaign against Parma on August 24.
