Tottenham Hotspur won a dramatic 3-1 win over Aston Villa in the first week of the 2019/2020 English Premier League at Tottenham Stadium on Saturday (10/8).
Tottenham immediately threatened after the referee’s whistle the first half kick off sounded. Lucas Moura dribbled into the Villa penalty area, before firing a shot which bounced over the crossbar. Four minutes later, Moura returned to test the back line of Villa. Even though his header from a bait from Danny Rose is still too weak.
The visitors took the lead after taking advantage of Tottenham’s backline through midfielder John McGinn in the ninth minute.
McGinn scored after receiving a crossing pass from Tyrone Mings from the back line. The ball that soared high was chased by McGinn who got Danny Rose’s maneuver. When in the penalty box McGinn managed to outwit Rose, followed by releasing a left foot kick to score a goal. These goals make Villa play more confident. Villa always bother Tottenham every time they attacks.
Harry Kane almost equalized in the 45th minute. Kane’s header received a long pass from midfield just hovering thinly over the Villa crossbar.
In the 67th minute, Erik Lamela wasted the chance to equalize the score after his non-violent shot could be anticipated by defender Aston Villa. In fact, at that time goalkeeper Tom Heaton had left the net.
Tottenham could only equalize in the 73rd minute through Tanguy Ndombele’s hard kick. Ndombele’s goal began with Davinson Sanchez’s chances which goalkeeper Tom Heaton pushed over.
After Sanchez’s chances, there was chaos in the Aston Villa penalty box. Lucas Moura who was holding the ball immediately passed it to Ndombele. Ndombele calmly releases the placing kick to the left side of the goal that cannot be reached by Heaton.
The Lilywhites continue to increase attacks after the score. Pressure from various lines launched by the host in order to get the winning goal.
Tottenham’s winning goal was born dramatically from Harry Kane’s left foot in the 86th minute. Got a wild ball in the penalty box, Kane turned his body to release a left foot shot.
Four minutes later Kane pulled Tottenham away with a 3-1 advantage. Kane’s second goal in the match was created through a right-footed kick after receiving a pass from Moussa Sissoko in the 90th minute. Tottenham won their first win of the season after beating Aston Villa 3-1.
