Charles Leclerc believes he is free from pressure that comes from him being a driver of Ferrari Fromula 1 Team.
He says he has been focused on the races in the first half of the season to establish himself without worrying for being a Ferrari F1 driver.
Leclerc was taken on board by Ferrari this season. He was taken from Sauber F1 team (currently known as Alfa Romeo).
He replaced Kimi Raikkonen on the team, who joined Alfa Romeo this season as his replacement.
Leclerc has proven himself to be worthy of investing in by coming close to victories in Bahrain and Austria Grand Prix.
He missed the opportunities and his progress was also struck by crashed in Azerbaijan qualifying and during the race in Germany.
Leclerc is considered one of the talented drivers who are young in Formula 1. He is one of the least experienced drivers who are taken on-board by teams of high stakes. However, he says he is comfortable with his role and takes no extra stress from the attention and expectations.
“The pressure, I really don’t feel it,” he said. But he admitted that he is getting comfortable with a more diverse and bigger team. The current challenge for him is to get used to this team.
“Obviously being a Ferrari driver is always a dream come true but it also is quite a lot more work.
“You need to work as hard as possible – coming in a top team in general there are a lot of people, you need to be understanding and learning how to work with so many people at the beginning coming from a smaller team. So this has been the biggest challenge for me.”
Leclerc performance in few races have been astonishing and become a threat to his team mate Sebastian Vettel. He rests the credit to a better understanding between him and team.
“I’m learning how to work with them but they are also learning how to work with me,” he said.
“What I prefer in terms of set-ups in general, what is the car balance that I like to drive and things like this. So this is better races after races.”
He has been tough on himself but rejected the claims of being under stress.
“It’s just the way I work,” he said. “I think it’s the best way forward to not to to find any excuses whenever you do a mistake but just to analyse it and be very honest with yourself. That’s what I’m trying to do every time.
“I’m definitely not ashamed to admit when I’ve done a mistake and I’ve done one at the end it’s quite clear. So no need to find an excuse.”
