The rematch between US boxer Floyd Mayweather against Irish Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Conor McGregor is rumored to be taking place in Japan.
Rumors of a rematch between two fighting athletes have continued since Mayweather won a TKO over McGregor at T-Mobile Arena on August 26, 2017.
The latest issue calls the rematch between the figure nicknamed Money against The Notorious will take place in Tokyo ahead of the new year 2020.
McGregor reportedly almost agreed to sign an agreement valued at US $ 12.3 million so that the fight was broadcast live.
“Conor is at the end of the agreement. He must be in good condition to be able to participate,” Mayweather was quoted as saying by the South China Morning Post.
Late last year, Mayweather had a chance to go to Tokyo to play a friendly boxing match against Tenshin Nasukawa, a fighter who studied kick boxing and MMA.
Boxers who are invincible in the professional arena were reportedly getting 9 million dollars to fight there. Mayweather then successfully made Nasukawa lose a knockout in only 139 seconds.
After the fight, some people were disappointed and saw that Nasukawa had been cheated. Mayweather also casually responded to the accusation.
“It was all entertainment, we were having fun. They [the organizers] wanted the fight [against Nasukawa] to take place in Japan, so I said, ‘Why not?'” He said.
McGregor has never won after losing to Mayweather. After losing the boxing ring, McGregor also had to acknowledge Khabib Nurmagomedov’s victory in the octagon ring on October 6, 2018 in the UFC 229 battle.
After the fight against Khabib, McGregor had never returned to appear and even had time to declare retirement. But now McGregor has expressed a desire to return to the world that brought up his name.
This plan was announced by Mayweather’s father, Floyd Mayweather Sr. According to the father, there were discussions held by the two fighters to carry out the duel volume 2 again.
“They talk, it seems like they will fight again. I don’t know for sure, but that’s what I heard. It seems, my son wants to fight again,” Mayweather Sr., quoted by Helen Yee.
“I think, the battle takes place in the same rules (boxing). Moreover, McGregor has a desire to win through a world that has not been conquered,” explained Mayweather Sr.
