Unai Emery’s coaching position at Arsenal has recently become a hot issue. His position is no longer safe as the negative trend experienced by the Gunners, Arsenal’s nickname.
In the last three matches in the Premier League this season, Arsenal have never won, although two of the three matches were held at home. Most recently, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium, London, Saturday (02/11/2019), in the 11th week of the English League 2019-2020.
After the match, rumors emerged that Emery was just waiting for the time to be ousted by Arsenal. He reportedly was only given the opportunity two more matches to prove himself at Arsenal.
If the team’s performance gets worse, his position will be replaced by other coaches. Arsenal Football Director, Raul Sanllehi, was even reported to have met with Jose Mourinho. Sanllehi plans to make the former Chelsea and Manchester United coach as Emery’s replacement.
However, as reported by the Daily Mirror, Arsenal reportedly did not only prepare Mourinho. They also prepared Mikel Arteta and Massimiliano Allegri if an agreement with Mourinho failed.
Jose Mourinho
The Special One stated that he is ready to return to training, but there are conditions that must be met by the club if they want to use his services.
The Portuguese coach said that he wants to coach a club that has the passion to win every match. “I know what I don’t want, and it’s very clear,” Mourinho said. “I need a club that can agree with my desire to play to win,” the 56-year-old added.
The former Chelsea coach said that he did not want to coach a club that was just fighting over the Champions League spots. “If a club offers me a contract for 10 years, and I was given the target only to be in the middle of the board, that is not what I want,” said Mourinho. “For my next job, I will fight to become a champion,” he said. He also revealed that he was still open to offers from English League clubs.
Mikel Arteta
Arteta is a familiar name in the ears of Arsenal fans. He was with the Gunners in the period 2011-2016 before joining as assistant coach of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City until now. Arteta is considered to understand the ins and outs of Arsenal, ranging from staff, players, to the club’s philosophy.
Massimiliano Allegri
As for Massimiliano Allegri who has been unemployed since he resigned from Juventus in June 2019. He is reportedly studying English in preparation for becoming the coach of the English League team. Despite winning six Serie A titles, Allegri’s weakness is that he has not once handled the club from the country of Queen Elizabeth.
