Tennis News : Former world number 3 and ATP Finals 2017 winner Grigor Dimitrov has confirmed that he will be performing in Rotterdam for the eighth time in February.

Dimitrov will face a lottery match full of tennis stars in Rotterdam next season, including 2019 ATP Finals champion, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Gael Monfils, David Goffin, Denis Shapovalov, Stan Wawrinka, and Next Gen ATP Finals champion 2019, Jannik Sinner.

Dimitrov debuted in Rotterdam in the 2009 season as world number 478 at the age of 17. The Bulgarian beat Tomas Berdych in the first round before losing to Rafael Nadal in three sets in the next match.

Dimitrov recorded his best achievement in Rotterdam in the 2018 season when he lost to Roger Federer in the top party. Throughout the 2019 season, Dimitrov qualified for two semifinals, namely the semifinals of the US Open and Paris Masters.

“Grigor Dimitrov and this tournament have a special relationship. He debuted here in the 2009 season. It was his first chance to prove himself in the ATP tournament as a talented tennis player.

He was motivated to win his title, especially after qualifying for the finals in the 2018 season. He is one of the most favored tennis players in Rotterdam, so it is truly remarkable to find him here, “explained the tournament director in Rotterdam, Richard Krajicek.

Meanwhile, world number 6 Tsitsipas will play in Rotterdam next season for the fourth time. The 21-year-old Tsitispas debuted in Rotterdam in the 2017 season as the world ranked 205 at the age of 18 and lost to Jo Wilfried Tsonga in the first round.

Tsitsipas returned to Rotterdam last February as champion of the Next Gen ATP Finals and Australian Open semifinalist.

Throughout the 2019 season, Tsitsipas won three titles, namely in Marseille, Estoril, and one of the biggest titles of his career to date, the ATP Finals title, London.

“Now is an extraordinary time for tennis. The new generation began to appear kicked off. You can see it at ATP Finals, London, where less than half are 23 years or younger. The youngest of them all, Stefanos Tsitsipas is the most charismatic player. Not only in the field, but also on social media. He knows how to attract the attention of many fans, something that the tennis world needs, “added Krajicek.
