Joshua Not Afraid of Wilder’s Power

Anthony Joshua

Deontay Wilder once again will be defending his WBC heavyweight title after draw fight against Tyson Fury in December 2018 in Los Angeles.

In his last fight against Luis Ortiz, the “Bronze Bomber” knocked out Ortiz in stunning 7th round stoppage at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Speaking to media, IBF, WBA, and WBO heavyweight championship, Anthony Joshua, said he would beat the WBC champion in the seventh round.

“He wouldn’t be there to do that in the seventh round. I would go in to knock him out. It’s heavyweight against heavyweight, champion against champion,” Joshua said.

“This is a serious fight, so I ain’t going to go in there to try and outbox him for 12 rounds, because of his punching power as well. I’ve got to go in there and take him out. Don’t let him get too comfortable in the ring with me.” Joshua added.

Unlike many power punchers, Wilder does not lose his power as the fight progresses. He is freakishly strong, quite fast for his size, and hits like a Missouri mule. Some people are simply born stronger and faster than the rest of us. Wilder is one such man.

However, Joshua admitted that he is not afraid of Wilder’s power and the Briton believed it’s about eliminating that power and just studying how to deal with it really.

“Nah, not scary, but I know it’s there. There are certain punches. Some are like concussive, some are stinging and some are like punches where they knock you out with one punch and you’re out for the count. Wilder possesses that kind of power. It’s about eliminating that power and just studying how to deal with it really.” Joshua said.

Joshua is a phenomenal boxer, he ain’t afraid of nobody. His management made Wilder some offers to make a fight happen but he chickened out and just ditched the offers.
