Shootout Penalty, Real Madrid Wins Spanish Super Cup

Real Madrid won the Spanish Super Cup after winning the penalty shootout against Atletico Madrid 4-1 after drawing 0-0 in normal time in the match in Jeddah on Sunday (1/12).

In the penalty shootout, Real Madrid first became the executor. Daniel Carvajal, who was the first kicker, was able to outwit Jan Oblak, who was moving to the left. Saul Niguez failed to carry out his job because his kick hit the goalpost even though he was outwitting Courtois. Score 1-0 for Madrid.

On the second occasion, Rodrygo accurately fired a shot into the top corner of the goal and could not be expected by Jan Oblak. Thomas Lemar failed to score because his shot was well read by Courtois. Score 2-0 for Madrid.

On the third occasion, Luka Modric was again able to outwit Jan Oblak. Atletico extended his breath after Kieran Trippier scored. Score 3-1 for Madrid.

Sergio Ramos finally ensured Real Madrid’s victory through his cold penalty execution. Jan Oblak again incorrectly anticipates the direction of the kick. Madrid closed the penalty shootout with a 4-1 victory.

Before the shootout was held, the tension of the match reached a climax in extra time round. Within 30 minutes of extra time, both teams demonstrated the open and attacking each other.

In the 93rd minute, Vitolo opened fire even though he was getting tight guard. Vitolo’s kick is able to force Courtois to struggle to save the ball.

A moment later, it was Jose Gimenez’s turn that didn’t meet the target.

In the 97th minute, Luka Modric tried to push into the Atletico defense but the Croatian player’s attempt was thwarted by Los Rojiblancos defenders.

Real Madrid, who had difficulty dismantling the Atletico defense in normal time, tried to release the threat from outside the penalty box. In the 100th minute, Toni Kroos unleashes a long-range shot but that has not been a threat.

Entering the second half of extra time, Morata immediately hit through an acrobat kick. But the kick was able to be driven on foot by Courtois.

In the 110th minute, it was Real Madrid’s turn to threaten Atletico. Luka Modric’s hard kick can still be held by Jan Oblak. Mariano Diaz was grabbed wildly but his shot came right back towards Oblak.

In the 115th minute, Federico Valverde violated Morata who was running towards the penalty box. Referee Jose Sanchez immediately pulled out a red card. Commotion between the players from both teams had occurred and forced the referee to draw a yellow card for a number of players from both teams.

Valverde had no choice but to violate because Morata was already standing

After the free kick failed, a cross which was released into the penalty box hit Vinicius and headed towards the goal. Courtois reacted well again to stem the shot.

In the 119th minute, Angel Correa was able to damage Madrid’s defense and fired hard. Courtois was again able to derail the opportunity.

At normal times, both teams have a good chance to score. But the greatness of Courtois and Jan Oblak guarding the goal became the main reason the score 0-0 lasted until the 90th minute.

Courtois and Oblak alternately save the goal from the opponent’s invasion. Tense moments in normal time when Madrid and Atletico alternately have a chance in injury time.

Oblak read the direction of Rodrygo’s shot from the penalty box well while Courtois was able to stem Thomas Lemar’s free shot in the final seconds of the match.
