Everton began to Set Sight on European League

Premier League in the previous Saturday came back showing Liverpool’s 26th match. That night Carlo Ancelotti’s team managed a 3-1 win over their guests from goals scored by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Bernard and Richarlison. These results lift Everton to 7th place with 36 points, shifting Manchester United who have not made their 26th match. United only competed against Chelsea in London on Tuesday. If United wants to maintain its position then the match in London must be won.

Everton played very effectively with the 4-4-2 formation applied by Don Carlo. Everton’s victory began with a goal that occurred in the 18th minute, when Theo Walcott’s breakthrough pass past Patrick van Aanholt and then the ball was received by Bernard. The Everton midfielder from Brazil took a spectacular volley into the center of the Crystal Palace goal.

Only 8 minutes later, Walcott after a brilliant assist that produced Everton’s first goal, had to get out of the game due to injury. Djibril Sidibe came on for him. Position 1-0 lasted until halftime.

Since the second round whistle sounded, it only needed 6 minutes, Roy Hodgson’s troops managed to equalize to 1-1. Christian Benteke’s kick made it through the hands of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. At the same time this is Benteke’s first goal in the Premier League since April 2019.

Everton restored their lead seven minutes later to be 2-1. Richarlison, another Brazilian player who defended Everton, received an ass from Calvert-Lewin. He ran outside the Palace’s defense and fired into the bottom corner. This goal seemed to rebuild the spirit of the Toffees.

Finally, only 2 minutes before the game ended, Everton closed the victory with their third goal. Dominic Calvert-Lewin with his right foot from very close range shoots into the bottom right corner of Palace’s goal. Score 3-1 for the victory Everton lasted until the fight was over.

This is Carlo Ancelotti’s achievement to bring Everton back to European League competition. The table released by Premierleague.com, The Toffees climbed to seventh position just five points behind Chelsea in fourth and only one point from Tottenham in fifth. The right time to compete with them to win the European League zone.

Indeed Ancelotti felt dissatisfied with the performance of his team, especially in the first 6 minutes. But he was relieved that the victory could finally be achieved by Everton. Football indeed always ends with the target of winning without caring how to do it.

To Skysports.com after the match, Carlo Ancelotti commented: “I would rather win than have a good performance but lose. That’s normal. The results are very important for us after a not so good performance for 60 minutes. At the moment we believe in what we are doing and that is the most important part. We can dream of fighting for the Europa League in the next match.” He added as reported by the site.

Congratulations to Everton and Don Carlo, there is still a long way to go and it needs even harder struggle. It will be interesting to see how their journey ends in the end of the season.
