Haaland Two Goals, Dortmund Win PSG in the Champions League

Borussia Dortmund defeated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) by a score of 2-1 in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday (18/2). Erling Haaland scored the two winning goals.

The duel between Dortmund and PSG was fierce and tight from the start. But both teams were deadlocked until the scoreless draw lasted until the game entered the last 25 minutes.

The deadlock in the match broke through Erling Haaland’s goal in the 69th minute. Dortmund’s rapid counterattack scheme makes PSG’s back line punished.

Haaland showed his instincts as a striker when he could read wild balls in the penalty box. Haaland’s shot from close range made the score change to 1-0 for Dortmund.

Entering the 75th minute, PSG successfully equalized through Neymar. Neymar’s goal could not be separated from the impressive action shown by Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe broke through the Dortmund defense and passed two players before giving Neymar a mature pass. Neymar without difficulty means sending the ball into an empty goal.

But apparently PSG’s excitement did not last long. Haaland again showed his strength in this fight. In an attack, pass from Giovanni Reyna makes Haaland stand in front of the penalty box.

Haaland decided to release the kick from outside the penalty box. Haaland’s left foot kick successfully delivers the ball into the goal. Score 2-1 last until the end of the game.

Two goals scored against PSG make Haaland has scored 10 goals in the Champions League this season. He is now level with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski, at the top of the Champions League top scores.

The number of 10 goals makes the name Haaland included in the history book. Reported by Squawka, Haaland became the first young man in Champions League history to score 10 goals in one season.

Impressive performance in the match against PSG also became evidence of Haaland’s consistency in scoring matters. The sharpness of the player born in Leeds, England was proven not fade when deciding to leave Red Bull Sazlburg to join Dortmund.

Since joining the January 2020 transfer window, Haaland has scored 11 goals in all competitions. Eight goals in the Bundesliga, one goal in the DFB Pokal, and two goals in the Champions League.

In total, Haaland scored 39 goals in 28 matches in all competitions. Haaland’s goal productivity this season is proof that he can be one of the great strikers in the future.
