Manchester United earned their position at the fifth in the Premier League standings after coasting to victory over Watford at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. The Red Devils won 3-0 thanks goals from Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood.
Speaking to MUTV, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed his delight with win against a tough team at home.
“It was a very good win. That’s two good wins and two clean sheets in the league since the winter break, plus some goals to celebrate.” Solskjaer said.
“I thought, in the first half, we started by gifting them some good opportunities but, gradually, we created more and more chances.” Solskjaer added.
“It’s been a very good week, overall. We also got an away goal and score-draw in Europe so I’m very pleased with everyone after the good break we had.” Solskjaer said.
“That was an important week in Marbella, building team spirit, camaraderie and some understanding between players. It’s working. Now we want to kick on.” he added.
When asked about Fernandes first goal at United, the Norwegian manager said his new signing already proven to be worth every penny.
“He’s footballer. He loves playing football, he wants the ball, he’s got the personality and character to demand it all the time, wanting to take the penalty. He takes it the way he does it to show he is a Manchester United character, not just a very, very good footballer.”Solskjaer said.
“He is going to be a very important part of what we do. We have needed that. He knows is coming here to play. He risks the ball like Veron did and I used to enjoy playing with Seba because you make runs and he looks for you.” Solskjaer added.
United got Fernandes late in the winter transfer window. They ended signing the Portuguese in a deal potentially worth £67.6m.
