Lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury knocked out Deontay Wilder in the seventh round on Saturday night at MGM Garden, in Las Vegas, becoming the new world heavyweight champion. The ‘Gypsy King’ 31 fights still without a loss and now he reign supreme over the heavyweight division.
Tyson Fury said he would come in and take the attack to Wilder that’s exactly what he did everything. He just dominant from the very beginning.
“Deontay [Wilder], let me tell you he never went down easy. I have a lump on the side my temple. I had to overcome a lot. I always believed if he couldn’t beat when I was at 50 per cent, then I knew he had no chance.” Fury said.
“I look forward to the next fight, the rematch if he wants it. I was pretty pissed because I predicted round two. I had nothing to hide, I said what I would do to him. I’ve never been the type of boxer to sit back.
“When I made the decision to leave Ben Davison, who did very well for me, people questioned that. But I did it for a reason and it’s worked out the best for me.” Fury added.
Fury took control late in the first round and never relinquished it, knocking down Wilder twice and bloodying him en route to the referee stopping the fight in the seventh round where Wilder’s corner threw in the towel.
“I’m doing good. Things like this happen. The best man won tonight, but my corner threw in the towel and I was ready to go out on my shield.” Wilder said.
“I had a lot of things going on heading into this fight. It is what it is, but I make no excuses tonight. I just wish my corner would have let me go out on my shield. I’m a warrior. He had a great performance and we will be back stronger.” Wilder added.
