Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has been impressed with Zion Williamson and his recent play. However, Vogel clarified that he already has high expectations of Williamson, whom he has been monitoring since rookie time at Duke.
Vogel believes Williamson power is real and he continues to live up to the hype. He’s going to have a great career.
“It really is a dynamic weapon and it complements them. I have always been a big fan of him. I did the Get Up show on ESPN, I was a member of the media once like you, and I did it in the morning after playing 13 for 13 against Syracuse last year.” Vogel said.
“I watched the clips over and over again. His star power is real and he continues to live up to the hype. He’s going to have a good career.” Vogel added.
One of the most anticipated confrontations in Williamson’s young career was against LeBron James. And on Sunday evening, Zion walked up to 35 points, a career high, in a lost effort for the Pelicans.
While LeBron ended up with a triple-double, Zion no doubt impressed. He displayed absolute dominance while being guarded by Kyle Kuzma, taking full advantage of the absence of Anthony Davis and intimidating his way to the rim.
This is Zion Williamson’s third performance in 30 points, and it is hard to forget that he has only played 15 games in total. Although the Pelicans have lost, they only need three more games to make up for the eighth seeded Grizzlies.
If Zion continues to accelerate from now on, no one would be surprised if he leads the Pelicans to the bottom of the playoffs. And if they do, fans have a whole post-season to watch the LeBron-Zion show.
