Real Madrid back on top after defeated Barcelona 2-0 in the second half of the match. Thanks to Vinicius Jr and Mariano Diaz at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night.
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique spoke to the press after losing at El Clasico to Real and decided to criticise what he saw from Zinedie Zidane’s men.
“Real Madrid in the first half was the worst Madrid I’ve faced at the Bernabeu. We Missed a chance to hurt them,” Pique said.
“In the second half, they managed to keep us on defense and they scored their first goal in an unfortunate game. Things would have been different if we had enjoyed the first half,” Pique added.
The Spaniard has played in many El Clasico and he certainly knows that while Barcelona were the best team in the first 45 minutes but the match was not so good for Lionel Messi and team-mates.
“I’m not saying that critically, each team has its own problems, we didn’t play that well but we did have the chance to make a statement.” Pique said.
“If we had enjoyed Real Madrid’s first half was mediocre, that’s for sure. Courtois saved his team on three good opportunities for Barcelona.” Pique added.
Real captain Sergio Ramos, meanwhile, was asked about Pique’s comments and he has brutally responded clearly.
“Everyone’s opinion is respectable. I sign to win all Clasicos by making a first half as bad as he says. The approach was different. In the first half, we left the ball and in the second we decided to go. They were not so fresh and we started to generate chances.” Ramos said.
When asked about Messi, Ramos said the Argentine captain is one of the best players in history after revealing the huge respect for him.
“I have huge respect for him. I think he’s one of the best players in history and I have huge respect for him.” Ramos said.
