Tennis News: Italian Fabio Fognini has revealed that he wants his wife, Flavia Pennetta to follow in the footsteps of other former US Open champions, Kim Clijsters and return to tennis after having children.
Fabio Fognini have two children namely Federico who is 3 years old and daughter Farah who was born last December. His wife Penetta, who turned 38, decided to retire after winning the 2015 US Open season.
“I’m trying to get Flavia back into action in the 2021 season like Kim Clijsters,” Fognini told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
“I spoke with Francesca Schiavone and Corrado Barazzutti. They practiced it and I arranged it. I have arranged the tournament program.”
Throughout his career, Pennetta has won 28 WTA tournament titles, occupying the highest rank in his career while occupying the world number 6 in the singles, and occupying the world number 1 ranking in doubles.

Fognini and Pennetta returned to their home in Arma, Taggia, south of Genoa after the COVID-19 pandemic broke out.
The world number 11 Fognini, who won the Monte Carlo Open last season, stated that he could not see that the 2020 season would continue.
“At the moment I am having trouble imagining returning to action,” admitted Fognini. “How can the director of the tournament be responsible for the health of the players, staff, the media and the audience?”
“I am honest and I’m sorry, because there are quite a lot of big tournaments and offer so many points, but I don’t know whether I’ll return to Asia again (hard-court season in Asia near the end of the season).”
“My biggest concern is not exposure to the virus, but spreading it. I am no longer alone. I am a father and a husband and will not go anywhere until I am 110 percent sure. Will I lose points and money? Patient.”
Previously, Fabio Fognini and his wife tennis player, Flavia Pennetta spent quarantine at their home in Arma, Taggia, Italy with their two children, Federico and Farah.
Fognini and Pennetta were special guests in the second episode of the social event initiated by ATP and WTA, Tennis United hosted by US tennis player Bethanie Mattek Sands and Canadian tennis player Vasek Pospisil.
In the episode, Fognini and Pennetta revealed how they spent their time at home.
“I have never lived so far at home with my family. We were worried in the first weeks, but we stayed with our children. I play with Federico,” said Fognini.
